Very interesting piece and it is has a grain of truth yet there is a known proverb: "it does not matter where you get your appetite as long as you eat dinner at home!"
my parents and my grand parents have been together for a long time...sure it was not easy but they made it.
on the other hand I do not recommend a guy pushing a women for exclusivity because it sends the signal that he does not have other women around however, I do not recommend him to push either for an "open relationship" because unless he belongs to the top of the food chain (i.e. like your or zan), he is going to have a hard time keeping up with his gf because as we all know, "men propose and women dispose" therefore there is a high chance that she will get lots of suitors while he gets to play with his willy!
Not every guy is wired to become a great lover, some are made to be good monogamous providers.
